ONMM Residency

Our Program

The Lake Granbury Medical Center Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine Residency Program is a community-based residency program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME ID: 2754800002, NRMP Codes: PGY1/ONMM1=2335275C2, PGY2/ONMM2=2335275R0, PGY3/ONMM3=2335275R1) and sponsored by Health Education Services (ACGME ID: 470075). Our residency program is accepting applications for the next class of residents to start on July 1. Once our program is fully built, we will have a full complement of fourteen residents in our program. Currently, our program trains six physicians.

The mission of the Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine program at Lake Granbury Medical Center is to educate, train, and develop physicians with exceptional clinical skills and ethical and professional behaviors, prepared to excel in the field of ONMM at state and national levels, while meeting the needs of the local community and greater regional area. Graduates will be prepared to successfully pass the AOBNMM board examination and enter the profession ready to practice clinically, teach the next generation of physicians in osteopathic principles and practices and produce research to support the practice of Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine.

LGMC ONMM program aims to train residents who:

  • Provide optimal patient care that is compassionate, appropriate and effective.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of established and evolving biomedical, clinical, epidemiological, and social-behavioral sciences.
  • Demonstrate application of knowledge in patient care.
  • Demonstrate ability to investigate and evaluate their patient care skills, appraise and assimilate scientific evidence and continuously improve their skills based on self-evaluation and life-long learning.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that will result in the effective exchange of information and collaboration with their patients, families, and other health professionals.
  • Demonstrate constant commitment in carrying out professional responsibilities and adhere to ethical principles.
  • Demonstrate awareness of and responsiveness to the larger context and the health system.
  • Demonstrate ability to rely on resources and other health professionals that are available in the system.

All of us at Lake Granbury Medical Center look forward to the addition of the next generation of resident physicians within our community teaching hospital and ambulatory network. Our leadership is committed to fostering dynamic learning environments, and our diverse allopathic and osteopathic faculty with extensive medical education experience, are ready to guide you on your career path.

Academics

Residents will participate in different series of didactics, including local and regional meetings with ONMM physicians in the area. Some sessions will be presented via a virtual platform (e.g., Zoom or GoogleMeet). They will also participate in a research curriculum directed by the UNTHSC Research Faculty at TCOM. Continuity clinic will take place at the Health Pavilion also located on the UNTHSC campus.
